People often ask us why we started breeding the Mastador puppy. We had two Labradors early on in our relationship and we lost both of them far to young to genetic cancers. It was truly devastating to us to lose our family friends far to early.
As our hearts broke after the loss of Kea and Coal (within a four months of each other), we decided we wanted a mixed breed. One that has not been line bred and carried a stronger genetic chance of a longer life. At first we wanted the Labrottie (Lab x Rottweiler mix), but when Mark saw the Mastador, his heart was set.
We interviewed all the major breeders in the U.S., and ultimately decided Bruce was the kind of guy we would want a dog from. Our friendship took a quick launch, and the idea of breeding the pup on the West Coast would be a fun idea. And that’s how we got started. Kane, KlaraBelle, and Zena have all come through Bruce. Not all from the same lines, but in connection with Bruce. We are grateful to him for his mentorship, friendship, and genuine nature.
We believe deeply in this beautiful breed. We believe it’s a dog worth sharing to the world, and we enjoy establishing ourselves as a reputable breeder serving families primarily on the West Coast. Our dogs are our pets and family first, and breeding dogs secondarily.
We hope you enjoy this site, and if getting a puppy from our farm is something you desire, we look forward to connecting with you.
